On Dr. Ben Carson's National Prayer Breakfast Speech

At last Thursday's National Prayer Breakfast, the main speaker was Ben Carson. He's an African-American and chief of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore. He has a remarkable personal story, but I want to focus on what else he said.

Dr. Carson undermined two primary pillars of this administration. He criticized those who want to punish the rich with higher taxes. He said that is why there are 160 banks in the Cayman Islands and we need to bring that money back here. He said the rich are already putting enough in the pot.

He also said every child should be enrolled in a medical savings account at birth so that when they need money for health care they'll have it and in effect not have to rely on government. The poor would get accounts too and initial investments would come from money saved from expensive and inefficient government programs.

It was remarkable to hear the president's basic philosophy undermined by a brilliant doctor. We need more people like that who speak the truth.
