Obama's State of the Union Proposals Won't Add to the Debt?

He's said it before and he'll probably say it again. In his State of the Union address Wednesday night, President Obama said all his proposals would not add a single dime to the debt. Really? People who don't pay much attention to politics believe everything he says. We want to believe our president. In this case, though -- as in so many others -- he is unbelievable.

The National Taxpayers Union, using figures from the Congressional Budget Office, says the president's new spending projects will cost taxpayers $83.4 billion, the most of any of his State of the Union proposals. Of course he hopes to pay for them with -- what else? -- tax increases on the rich and evil corporations. That's the well he always goes to. It's because he's never held a real job or run a business. It's other people's money, not his. There's a limit and he long ago exceeded it.

The reason we have a Republican House majority is to stop this sort of thing, but as long as the president thinks he can destroy Republicans, he will keep trying.
