Speaking of Discrimination and Intolerance...

As the Roman Catholic church reacts to the Obama administration's mandate for Catholic institutions to provide contraceptives and so-called "morning-after pills" in their insurance policies for employees, there is another example of what some have called a "war on religion."

Vanderbilt University in Nashville has placed InterVarsity's Graduate Christian Fellowship and three other campus ministries on provisional status for their noncompliance with the school's anti-discrimination policy. The policy prohibits Christian organizations from using any religious criteria when selecting its leaders. This is all about homosexuals.

InterVarsity has been around for decades. No one is forced to join, or attend any of its activities. No one is coerced into becoming a Christian. Groups with other beliefs are allowed to operate on campus. But the homosexual lobby is so strong -- or university leadership so weak -- that no one in leadership will defend the faith and practices of anyone who disagrees with the gay agenda. Talk about discrimination and intolerance. We'll see more of this going forward. It is all foretold by no less than Jesus Himself.

I'm Cal Thomas in Washington.
