For the second night in a row, the campaign addressed an issue that it has studiously avoided: Romney’s Mormonism. His faith played well with the crowd, and with the media.

As a woman who has struggled with breast cancer and MS, Ann Romney said she knows the voices of women who she said hold families and the country together. She gave perhaps the most important character reference to her husband: "You can trust Mitt," she said.

On Tuesday at the convention in Tampa, Fla., the Republican Party approved its official document, which calls for bans on all abortions and gay marriages.

An estimated 50,000 people are in Tampa, Fla., this week for the Republican National Convention. As delegates inside the Tampa Bay Times Forum determine the party’s platform and confirm Mitt Romney as the GOP nominee for president, thousands more litter the streets outside the convention hall with various agendas.

Delegates crafting the Republican Party’s platform took a strong stance on military issues -- including vowing to protect chaplains’ conscience rights and enforcing the Defense of Marriage Act on military installations.
