Two of the nation's leading evangelicals are throwing their weight behind President Barack Obama's push for universal background checks for all gun buyers, a measure that faces stiff opposition in both the House and Senate.

In the end, we the people are responsible for our own safety and that of our families, neighbors and loved ones – and we have a constitutionally protected right to the tools necessary to secure that safety.

Vice President Biden is scheduled to unveil today the administration's plans for restricting gun ownership and chipping away at the Second Amendment. He won't put it that way, but that will be the result.

The Obama administration, in conjunction with other far-left politicians and groups, is about to launch the greatest threat to the Second Amendment we have ever faced.
